The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California takes pride in being built upon a foundation of student leaders. From our e-board to coordinators to committee members, everyone is welcome to join in growing our mission! We believe in building a team where leadership is shared, voices are heard, and growth is made. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for growth and development to students and young professionals of all ages.
EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Executive Board manages UVSA's day-to-day internal and external affairs by approving the organization's annual planning schedules and operating budgets and serving as official representatives of the organization in the community. Each officer oversees different aspects of the organization including administration, public relations, internal development, and all program and projects. Officers are elected by the General Staff and the Inter-Collegiate Council Representatives. Officers, like all other positions in UVSA, are non-paid volunteers. 2025–2027 Officers
Internal Vice President
The Internal Vice President is in charge of all inter-organizational issues, such as clarifying roles and responsibilities of officers, overseeing Inter-Collegiate activities, and assisting in the development of the General Staff.
External Vice President
The External Vice President acts as the official liaison of the organization to the community and media, oversees community service projects, and is in charge of all public relation issues.
Secretary
The Secretary serves as the organization’s official record keeper, maintaining the bylaws, manage the minute book, track attendance for all meetings and activities, safeguard corporate records and the organizational seal, and support the Executive Board with additional administrative duties.
Treasurer
The Treasurer manages all financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing certified financial reports, overseeing deposits and disbursements, and providing transparent financial updates to organizational leadership.
CABINET STAFF - Coordinators
Coordinators support UVSA's mission by leading specific areas of the organization such as public relations, finance, community outreach, and more! Each coordinator is responsible for planning and executing projects, collaborating with team members, and contributing to the growth and sustainability of UVSA's programs. Coordinators are selected by the Executive Board and serve as key members of the Cabinet Staff. All coordinator roles are non-paid volunteer positions and operate on a one-year term from June 1 to May 31.

2025–2026 Coordinators
Council of Regional Representatives
Serves as UVSA SoCal’s liaison to the Council of Regional Representatives (CoRR) within UNAVSA. Responsibilities include attending CoRR retreats and meetings, promoting UVSA engagement in the UNAVSA Conference and Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP), and upholding the UNAVSA Constitution. Term runs August 1–July 31.

Media Coordinator
Leads Media Team in coordinating photographers and videographers to cover UVSA events. May provide coverage to local VSA events. Produces creatives for publishing on the website and social media.
Public Relations Coordinator
Leads UVSA’s strategy for communications, social media, and public relations to ensure clear, consistent messaging. Oversees the annual communications plan, online content creation and marketing data collection to position UVSA as the community’s primary info source.
External Relations Coordinator
Supports the External Vice President in representing UVSA within the Vietnamese community. Attends most community meetings and events, builds relationships with local organizations, and acts as the main point of contact between UVSA and the broader community. Maintains an up-to-date contact list of partner organizations.
Alumni Coordinator
Oversees the building and maintaining relationships with alumni through social events, newsletters, and support campaigns using donor relationship managment software.
Finance Coordinator
Supports the Treasurer with financial tasks and event budgeting, including Tet Festival planning. Helps facilitate Financial Management workshops, reviews expense authorizations, and assists with registration duties. Maintains ledgers, performs bank reconciliations, and handles data entry and discrepancy resolution.
IT/Web Coordinator
Systems administrator for backend platforms, such as Google Workspace for Nonprofits, Workplace by Meta, Webhosting by DigitalOcean, Customer Relationship Management by Salesforce, and more.
Data Analysis Coordinator
Manages organizational data across projects, events, and finances. Cleans, analyzes, and presents insights through dashboards in Power BI and Google Data Studio. Tracks engagement via CRM tools, and monitors key metrics. Ensures all data is accurate, consistent, and confidential.
Human Resources Coordinator
Assists the Secretary and Internal VP in screening, recruiting, and training department volunteer staff. Reviews and updates existing training protocols to meet industry standards.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors provides governance to the organization and is responsible for ensuring that short-term goals align with UVSA's mission, strategic planning for the organization's long-term growth and stability, and providing fiduciary responsibility for finances and accounting. The Board of Directors was established in 2016 following ratification of UVSA's Bylaws to ensure that the three offices of UVSA were being evenly represented: The Executive Board, the Inter-Collegiate Council, and the General Staff. Additionally, elected directors were established to provide support from working professionals. Please take a look at UVSA's Bylaws for more information about the Board of Directors. STRUCTURE OF THE BOARD
The Board of Directors consists of 9 members which includes 6 ex-officio directors and 3 elected directors.
From the Executive Board, the President and Secretary. Officers are elected by the General Staff and Inter-Collegiate Council Representatives.
From the Inter-Collegiate Council, the Chair and Vice Chair. The Chairs are elected from the Inter-Collegiate Council Representatives.
From the General Staff, the Administrative and Development Coordinators. Coordinators are appointed by the Executive Board Officers.
The 3 elected directors are chosen by the existing 6 ex-officio directors for 3-year terms. Terms of elected directors are renewable.

Get InvolvedDevelopment Coordinator
Drives fundraising initiatives and donor engagement. Partners with PR/Media to support campaigns and tracks metrics in CRM dashboards.
Youth Coordinator
Supports youth programs, workshops, and outreach; coordinates with ICC and community partners on student-focused events.
Grant Writing Coordinator
Researches opportunities, drafts proposals, and manages submissions and reporting timelines with the Treasurer.
Media Team Member
Photo/video coverage at events, plus edits and deliverables for web & social.
PR Team Member
Helps plan content calendar, write posts, and support cross-channel comms.
