Apply for VAHSA Camp Scholarships

Scholarship applications have been released for VAHSA Camp 2010!
Every year, UVSA offers student leaders a scholarship opportunity in order to have their camp registration fees covered. This summer, we are offering the scholarship, named the Nguyễn Ngọc Phú Memorial Scholarship, to 5 lucky campers.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
1) Be a VAHSA, VSA, or Vietnamese Club staff/member.
2) Be fully registered (all forms turned in) and attend the VAHSA Leadership
Camp in Big Bear, CA on August 27-29, 2010.
Deadline: Applications must be emailed to tieu-y.nguyen@thsv.org by Monday August 9th, 2010.

We are accepting applications for UVSA Coordinators. The following positions are open for application:

  • Public Relations
    • Assist EVP in maintaining relationship with media contacts
    • Publish bi-weekly newsletter/e-zine to promote UVSA events & activities, and EOY Yearbook
    • Manage contact@uvsa.org email, forwarding appropriately to respective individuals/groups
    • Distribute press releases & news articles to external media outlets (radio, newspaper, TV, online)
    • Create brochures, pamphlets, flyers, ads when necessary for specific events/activities/programs
  • IT/Media
    • Maintain and update UVSA website on a regular basis
    • Facilitate integration with project-specific websites (Tet, Camp, Non Song, etc.)

Each summer, UVSA hosts 2 summer leadership camps for our members and staff throughout Southern California.  The VAHSA Camp caters to members and staff of the Vietnamese American High Schools Alliance as well as high school students throughout Southern California with the purpose of developing community-minded young leaders, preserve and promote Vietnamese language and culture, and encouraging personal growth.  Similarly, the UVSA Camp caters toward college students who are staff members of VSAs/VSU within the Union with more attention paid toward providing leadership and management skills in order to help the respective schools grow and advance.
