There’s a great petition going on called the Vietnamese English Language Immersion (VELI) spearheaded by Anh Bảo Nguyễn, Board Member of the Garden Grove Unified School District. The purpose of this petition is to ask Garden Grove Unified School District to add in VELI to all the schools. Please help them by clicking here to sign.

On Saturday, May 4th from 2PM to 4PM, UVSA will be at GGUSD’s Community Forum to petition for inclusion of the immersion as well as speak in support. The Tet Festival Press Conference this past Sunday has finally wrapped up Tet Festival for the year 2013 for us. To remember the special moments that occurred throughout the 3-day weekend, our IT/Media Director Bao Pham has completed a highlight video for this momentous project for UVSA. This video features a lot of beautiful footage that our IT/Media was able to capture throughout the weekend, so we hope that you not only enjoy it but become inspired by the multitude of things that go into Vietnamese New Year at the Tet Festival.

Our UNAVSA CORE reps Kenny Tran and Ken Le go on a mission in the Windy City:
On October 5-7th, UVSA SoCal’s very own Kenny Tran and Ken Le had the opportunity of attending the UNAVSA CoRR Assembly in Chicago, Illinois.





You may ask, what does UNAVSA and CoRR stand for? UNAVSA is the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations or Liên Hội Sinh Viên Việt Nam Bắc Mỹ in Vietnamese. CoRR stands for the Council of Regional Representatives. UNAVSA consists of twelve regions all located in North America and Canada. It’s that time of the year again! UVSA College Fair is just around the corner! It will be held at UCLA Student Activities Center (220 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095) on Sunday, November 4th from 9:30am to 3pm. Many different colleges will be there to answer any questions you may have about their campus and there will also be workshops! Spread the word to your little brothers/sisters/cousins/etc!

“The first thing I did when I found out I became Sponsorship Director was cry, cry tears of joy! It was truly a dream come true! It made me happy to know that all my years of hard work had finally paid off. Even though it may not seem like it, I have had a difficult journey with the Tet Festival.

I had very few friends and spent my time moving around from committee to committee trying to get along with people who didn’t even want me. Even one of my friends only kept me around to try to hit on girls. It was so embarrassing...
