Vietnamese Student Association – Hội Sinh Viên Việt Nam
California Polytechnic University, Pomona
Nestled in 1,438 rolling acres on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, Cal Poly Pomona is one of only seven polytechnic universities nationwide. The CPP VSA, just like it’s school’s motto of learning by doing, is dedicated to the encouragement and teaching of cultural awareness and diversity on campus and within the community. VSA hopes to provide the necessary interaction between those of different backgrounds to build intercultural bridges by encouraging physical, intellectual, and social participation in the Vietnamese culture.
Cal Poly VSA strives to create a supportive and cooperative community for those of Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese descent. Throughout the years, Cal Poly VSA has lent support to the community of Pomona by participating in an annual Lunar New Year Festival held on campus for the local families and their children. Addition to the Lunar New Year Festival, they participate in many other events during the year, such as the Tet Festival and the Black April Commemoration. Cal Poly VSA holds an Annual Culture Night open to students and the community in which they highlight the magnificent Vietnamese culture: an exquisite blend of singing, acting, dancing, and much more.
